Icicles on the tree - yes or no.

It's a big NO for me. Way too messy and now with Jack putting everything in his mouth, I wouldn't want him to eat it.

I don't want it on a fake tree, cause getting that stuff off is a bitch. We had a real tree one year, and put it on there, You just leave the shit on, and throw it all away.

As children we use to play this game with my Dad with theTinsle on the tree.

We would sit on the couch and see who could blow the hardest to make the tinsle on the tree move the most..:paranoia.... it was one of our FAVORITE games to play with Dad...:awe....

However that said.. NOT IN MY HOUSE...:no.. to messy..:couch

If we had a real tree I would say cat and mess BE DAMNED! There is nothing like the joy of letting the kids tinsel the tree. I got Maggie a real tree when she was 2 and she tinselled the hell outta it and it was so precious. :awe She loved it.

I use icicles on my artificial tree AND have two cats. To me, there is nothing prettier than turning off all the lights except for those on the tree, and seeing the icicles gently move and twinkle and make the lights twinkle more.

I just don't tinsel the lower branches of the tree. We put the tree branches on row by row, and leave off the bottom two rows b/c we have a train and village underneath the tree and can't see it otherwise. I also spray my tree with Bitter Apple and the cats leave it alone.

Wish she would listen --- I have whined for seven years now - no dice.

what if you showed up with a box (they are like 50 cents :lol) and promised you would clean up any icicle mess left over? Just do it! You are grown and deserve a little bit of icicle fun! :chest

I could - but it wouldn't be worth it. I am only a bit disappointed but to get bull headed and do it against her wishes would cause far more problems than me being a bit disappointed.

ok so you are too nice to put your foot down...what about suggesting a compromise? You get icicles this year (or next) and then the alternating Christmas there aren't any? How about adding it to your Christmas list? :giggle

LOL...I can't even get her to agree on what lights to put on the tree. I like the little ones and she likes the big ones.
It's okay - cause she give in to me on other things - like putting chocolate in the kids stocking before me they only got fruit and nuts.

LOL...the reindeer left fruit, nuts and little presents in their stockings. The kids also didn't have sugar cereal prior to me moving in. But hey I don't know her - the girls often like fruit over most desserts when we are out - eat non sugar cereal -- and look at them they have killer bodies. They have good eating habits. They also couldn't have soda - to this day Lauren doesn't like soda much.
