View Full Version : Do you open your gifts at the same time as your kids?
Dh and I always open our gifts on Christmas Eve night after the kids are in bed. This is something we started to do from the begining so that Christmas morning we could have all our attention on our kids (seeing that we are outnumbered :paranoia) and so that we could watch them.
As a child my parents always opened with us. I remember how much fun it was to see what Mom and Dad got for Christmas. So part of me thinks we need to start to incorporate it back in to Christmas morning... but it is so hectic and so much going on I think it might just add tot he confusion.
Ideas?

We always have the kids open their Xmas PJs on Christmas Eve. Otherwise we all open gifts the morning of. They like seeing what we got, plus usually I left the kids pick out somethings mall for DH from them and vice versa.

We open our pressies last after the kids open theirs on Christmas morning. Gotta wait though and assemble the toys and many pieces that everything comes with. :snicker The kids like seeing what we got each other. On Christmas Eve, we play Santa and set all the gifts and stockings out and when we are all done and exhausted, sit down and drink some tea in front of the tree. ;) I think that couples time in front of the tree after the kids are in bed is really nice.
Bronte.. I agree that is is kindof what Jeff and I do. We play Santa, and sneak around the house writting the letter, putting the carrot greens out on the lawn so it looks like the reindeer left stuff behind. Jeff has this thing that makes reindeer prints on the lawn and the kids go CRAZY when they see them in the morning..:lmao..
We then come in, open our pressies and then hang out in front of the fire and watch a good movie.. I like to watch Scrooge..:D

We open our presents one at a time and rotate through everyone. We have to juggle it a bit since the adults don't get as much as the kids. When they were younger it really bothered them - now they don't care.

At our house the reindeer leave nuts in the kids stockings and the elves leave fruit. So, we don't have tons of candy in the stocking.
